An accomplished listee, Mr. Scofield celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. In 1979, Mr. Scofield graduated with an AB in Biological Science from Cornell University. He continued his education at the University of Utah, receiving a JD in 1983. Following his graduation, Mr. Scofield was an associate of the law firm, Parsons & Crowther, between 1983 and 1987. He became an associate and then partner of Callister, Duncan & Nebeker in 1987 and 1989, respectively.
In 1992, Mr. Scofield was the founding partner of Parsons, Kinghorn, Peters, where he remained until 2003. During this period, he was the president of this law firm from 1996 to 1997. From 2002 to 2014, Mr. Scofield had been on the advisory committee on Utah Rules of Civil Procedure. Since 2003, Mr. Scofield founded another law firm called Peters Scofield, A Professional Corporation. He has worked in this position to this day.
In 1983, Mr. Scofield was admitted to the bars of the United States District Court of Utah and the Utah State Bar. He was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in 1990, as well as the United States District Court of Hawaii in 1997, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas in 2013, the United States District Courts for the District of Colorado, Eastern District of Michigan and Western District of Oklahoma in 2010, the Northern District of Oklahoma in 2017, and United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1995. Mr. Scofield was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of the United States in 1996, and the United States Court of Federal Claims in 1997.
As an esteemed lawyer, Mr. Scofield is a member of various related organizations, including the American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Utah Trial Lawyers Association, Salt Lake County Foundation Bar Association, Outstanding Young Men of America, and Zeta Psi. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Scofield was on the Foundation Board for Westminster College.
As an author, Mr. Scofield has published “Trial Handbook for Utah Lawyers” in 1994. He was a member of and contributor to the Utah Law Review from 1981 to 1983. Mr. Scofield also has contributed articles to several legal journals, specifically the Annual Supplement to Trial Handbook.
Mr. Scofield has appeared in various Marquis Who’s Who publications, including the 52nd through 55th and 57th through 61st editions of Who’s Who in America. He has been featured in the 7th through 13th editions of Who’s Who in American Law, as well as the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the West and the 14th, 17th, and 21st editions of Who’s Who in the World.
